A Peek into Halloweens Past

2002

Our nieghbors up at BYU, Steve and Tara Cook, came over to help us carve pumpkins
Spooky!

This is an awful picture but the only one I took with the digital camera that year. We still used our regular camera to take most of our pictures back then. How silly were we. Ü Abby wore a little spider costume. Looking back I wonder why I didn't dress her in something alittle more girly but at the time I thought this outfit was cute; especially the little feet (which you can't see Ü). She was 4 months old.

2003

Again this is the only picture I took of her on the digital camera. This year little Piglet and I went up and saw Daddy at work and then went to a special Halloween storytime at the library with Abby's cousin Nellie.

Abby couldn't decide what to be this year. First she was a butterfly when we went Trick or Treating to Grandma Hall's house (a few days before Halloween)...
...then for her party at preschool she was a 50's girl... ...and for Halloween night she was Sleeping Beauty. Here she is with Kaitlyn Millar. We went to their ward's Trunk or Treat that year. This video was taken earlier in the month as they were going to Gracie Green's costume birthday party. I just love hearing their little voices! Ü

(we're going to use these again this year!)
Ben was 2 months old(Looking back, Halloween night 2008 was when we first noticed Abby having trouble with her legs. She just couldn't keep up with us that night and fell about 4 times.)

And here is a little sneaky peek into this year's Halloween

The pictures are adorable!  What a great idea to post Halloween throuth the years.  I love you!  I wish I could be there when they go trick-or-treating.  That is always such fun.  I am helping Hannah with her costume.  She is going to be a bathing beauty.  She will wear a shower cap, a bathrobe, slippers, and wear nylons with lots of black string  sticking out from them (to represent hairy legs.  We will also make her a banner to wear saying "bathing beauty".  I am not sure what the other kids are going to be.

Have a Great Day!

Missing You

Our good friends the Millars moved to Iowa in June. We miss them lots and lots. We would have playdates or trade babysitting often and our kids were best friends. Jessica called the other day and I missed it. So bummed! She said she had been checking my blog and was missing me and wanted to catch up. I am the worst phone caller in the world and with the time distance between us who knows when I'll get to talk to her again. So Jess, if you check this anytime soon, we miss you too!!
P.S. My kids sent your kids "letters". Lets be pen pals!!!

Grandma and Grandpa Live Here Now!!!

I am so happy for them.  They will love having a newer home.  It will require less upkeep and they will really love that!

The Jerold and Christeen Hall Family Reunion

A few weekends ago (Sept. 19th -20th) we had the 2nd annual Jerold and Christeen Hall Family Reunion. We used to hold the Nielsen Reuinon every summer in honor of my grandma's side of the family at the ranch where she grew up outside of St. Johns, AZ. Unfortunately the ranch and roads got too run down for everyone to go there anymore so last year we started our own family reunion. Except last year we weren't able to go because Tyler had a scout campout he was going on and Ben was only about 3 weeks old. So this was our first year attending. The family rented out Camp Lomia for a night and we just had fun visiting and eating and playing. Saturday night we had a talent show where my kids performed this little number (video taken earlier in the month during a practice session).
I just want to post this one picture from the reunion. My grandparents had 4 children ~ Darwin, Pam, Marsha, and Jerrilyn ~ and from there this whole bunch of yayhoots was created (Grandma Hall like to call us yayhoots...or hoochinannys). Every grandson that is old enough has served a mission. Every grandchild that is old enough has been married in the temple. We are all active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. What an accomplishment for my grandparents. I love them so much. What a legacy for the rest of us to carry on. I can't wait for next years reunion! (Can you find us in the poster?)
Ok, I'll post a picture of my kids too. Ü

Cute video.  Your children are very creative in addition to being smart!  Thanks for sharing with me.

Have a great day!   Aldine Allen

Fun at School

I thought I'd post about some fun things my kids have been doing at school. A few weeks ago they had spirit week. One days was crazy hat day.Another was black and gold day (the school colors). That same day the new high school (Poston Butte) had their forthcoming parade (What the heck is forthcoming? Why didn't they call it homecoming? Maybe because the school only has 9th and 10th graders? The 11th and 12th graders still go to Florence.). It only lasted about 10 minutes, it was really hot, but I'm glad I walked down to watch it with them. Abby's principle from kindergarten and 1st grade is now the principle at the new high school so we got to see him ride down the street. They boys made little black and gold poms poms to wave and the big high school kids threw candy. Fun times. Ben and I came home and had an otter pop.
The kindergarteners have a goal to learn to read 100 words by the 100th day of school (the middle of January). The kids who meet that goal get to go an an ice cream party. Mr. Andy has already learned to read them. I'm so proud!! He came out of school that day saying, "Mommy, mommy - now I get to go to the ice cream funeral!!" What?!?! I think that came from Abby talking about the ice cream party she got to go to (for meeting her AR goal). I had asked her where they were getting the ice cream from and she said, "I think just the ice cream freezer." So I think Andy was trying to say that he got to go to the ice cream freezer too (which is funny in itself) but it came out ice cream funeral. I laughed. Alex is about half way through his list. For every 10 words they learn they get to put an ice cream scoop on top of their ice cream cone chart in their room. Andy earned his 10 and Alex has earned 5. Alex is working hard to earn his other 5 scoops when he gets back from fall break (Fall Break has been this past week and this coming week).
We got a letter from the school this week saying that all 3 kids earned the Honor Roll for 1st quarter. What smarties!! We went to McDonalds to celebrate.
