A Funny Email I Recieved ~ It Made Me Laugh Ü

Why LDS Women Stress

As Latter-day Saint women, we are practically obsessed with anxiously engaging ourselves in good causes. Maybe it's subliminal.

Glancing through the hymnal last Sunday I noted that as sisters in Zion, we who are called to serve are all enlisted to go marching, marching forward because the world has need of willing men to all press on scattering sunshine. We wonder if we have done any good in the world today because we have been given much and want to do what is right, keep the commandments, press forward with the Saints, choose the right, and put our shoulders to the wheel going where He wants us to go. However, as the morning breaks high on the mountain top, truth reflects upon our senses, and while we still believe that sweet is the work, we also realize that we have work enough to do ere the sun goes down. And thus we ask Thee ere we part, where can we turn for peace?

More About Freezer Cooking

A few of you who left comments about the freezer cooking were asking how we went about organizing this. I answered you in the comment section of that post - then realized you probably don't check my comments. Duh! So check in the comment section under freezer cooking to find out more. Ü

Square Dancing, Haircuts and Pedicures

Firday, February 12th, Abby and Tyler went to the Daddy Daughter Square Dance that was held for the Girl Scout troops in the area. Abby wore Grandma Pam's twirly dress again and they had a good time sqaure dancing, country dancing, swing dancing, and drinking root beer floats. I remember going to the girl scout square dances with my dad when I was a girl. Today Abby and I had a Valentine's date. We went to WalMart and got pedicures and haircuts. Abby was so excited to get rid of all her hair.
Here's the before (she told me she got all dressed up for the special day)..

...and the after ~ So cute! I really like her hair short.
Here's frumpy ol' me before...

...and frumpy ol' me after. I had some layers cut. I think I like it - something different.
(Andy wanted to be in the picture with me but then he covered his face! Weirdo!)
For Christmas Daddy gave Abby and I gift certificates to get our toes done. This was Abby's first pedicure (and my 2nd).
Red toes for Valentines

Daddy got his hair cut that morning too so here he is with Alex Ü

Now we're all trimmed and polished for Sunday!

Ben in the Bouncy with Balls ( and other cute things)

How cute can one boy be?? The other day we read books together for 45 minutes!! He loves books! He learned how to catch a ball this week. He also has been without his binky this whole week and it was so easy to do. He'll be 18 monhts on the 22nd and he goes into nursery on the 28th.
Don't let the smile fool you though - he's a stinker.

He is such a little doll!  I can hardly wait to give him a big squeeze.

We Love to Read Spirit Week ~ February 8th -12th

Monday ~ PajamaDay/Teddy Bear Picnic
(wore pjs and brought favorite blanket, stuffed animal, and book; got to eat snacks outside on their blanket while looking at their book)
Tuesday ~ Hawaiian Day

Wednesday ~ Character Day
Abby chose to be Kaya from the American Girl Series. She wore this squaw dress that my Grandma Hall made for my mom when she was in 5th or 6th grade. Abby wore her pruple slip on shoes for moccasins. Abby loved to spin in this dress. She earned a dunkin donut coupon for getting up and telling about her costume.

Andy couldn't ever decide what he wanted to be. I kept giving him all these ideas but he didn't like any of them. Finally he said, "I just want to be myself." That got me thinking about books that might have an Andrew in them and I thought of a book by Robert Munch called Andrew's Loose Tooth. Since Andy has a tooth that is barely barely loose this was perfect. He wore a yellow shirt like the Andrew in the story (but we didn't have purple and green shorts so he just wore his blue pants).
As soon as we started talking about character day Alex knew what he wanted to be ~ The Cat in the Hat. Apparently it wasn't as creative as I thought because we saw at least 4 other Cat in the Hats at school that day. Alex was the cutest one though. Thursday ~ Multiplicity Day
All of kindergarten dressed in red shirts, jeans, white socks, and sneakers. 2nd grade dressed in white shirts and jeans. Abby only had jean shorts so she wanted something on under them to help keep her legs warm. This wasn't the funnest of mornings for her as you can see.

Friday ~ Black and Gold Day
Ok, so Abby just really isn't a morning person. But here she is in her new school shirt with her goodies for her Valentine party.

Skateland

For Family Home Evening we took the kids to Skateland. They'd earned it for good behavior. It only cost us $2 to get in as Monday's are free admission and you are allowed to bring in your own skates so we just needed to rent a pair that Tyler and I shared. We had lots of fun and went to a McDonalds down the street afterwards for ice cream. Thanks kids for being good so we could go!!

New Years 2010

I copied some pictures off my mom's camera and found these from New Years Eve. We went over that night for dinner and then the kids got to spend the night. They watched High School Musical 3 with Grandpa and then went outside and celebrated New Years with poppers at about 8:30pm. The next morning they got to watch Playhouse Disney (we don't have the Disney channel so this is a real treat) and played outside in Grandma's ball bouncy. Ü

The boys almost are getting as tall as Abby.  It looks like they will be passing her up before high school at this rate.  Wow!!!

January 2010

I'm behind in my blogging...time to play catch up!
Our "front door neighbor" (Glen from across the street) moved away last month. He gave Abby this pillow. Thanks Glen! Bubbles!

We've used our new firepit a whopping 1 time!
(Abby's friend Amya was over that day)
Due to all the rain we've had our yard has been a mud pit for weeks. When it finally drys out we'll have to go out and roast hotdogs again.

Andy put this puzzle from Aunt Cindy together all by himself

On January 13th Circle Cross had an awards assembly. Abby (and her friend Amya) earned the Honor Rolll. Way to go Abs!!

Andy and Alex (and their friend John) earned the Scholars of Distinction award - straight As for 2nd quarter!!

January 19th was the 100th day of school. The kindergarten had a great big ice cream party to celebrate and to honor those kids who learned to read their 100 sight words. Those who learned their words got a special crown.
