Happy Birthday Ben!!! (and Grandma Hall too!!!)

The Birthday Boy!!
6 years old!!!

He got to open one present at breakfast.

I took cookies into his class for a birthday treat and they ate them at afternoon recess.

Birthday Buddies!!
Ben (8/22) & Grandma Hall (8/23)

Pizza Party!!

My poor dad and his light sensitive eys :(

Ben anxiously counted down the minutes until he was actually 6 years old.
Apparently when his teacher said goodbye to him on Thursday she said, "The next time I see you you'll be 6!!"  Ben said, "Nope, I won't be 6 until 6:21 at night."  She got a kick out of it!!

Present Time!!

Ben was so funny opening presents.  For some reason he kept trying so hard not to smile.  You could tell he was excited about his gifts but he did everything he could to hold it in.  His lips would twitch but he would stay so serious.
Silly guy!!

This smile did pop out though!!
I think this laser tag game and the bow and arrow set were his favorite gifts.

I think he made out pretty good.

Grandma's turn!!  Love this beautiful lady!!

Grandma has given every grandkid and now greatgrandkid a $2 bill for their birthday for as long as I can remember.  Grandma got a kick out of opening a card from Abby and finding a $2 bill inside. Ü

Tanner in on the action.  He actually blew out one of Grandma's candles while we were singing to her.!!

The cake turned everyone blue!!!

The night isn't over yet!!!
Ben chose to go roller-skating for his birthday and Friday night just happens to be Glow Night at Skateland.

Tanner didn't want to go out onto the skating rink (he kept saying "I don't like it!!") but he had fun skating in the aisles.
First time in skates
 Happy Birthday Buddy!!

Nice Facebook Messages

I teach the CTR 4B class is primary.  I have 8 little kids in my class ~ Melody Service, Morgan Smith, Logan DeVore, Bryce Johnson, Devonee Ferrington, Navealynn Maxwell, Lilly Foster, and Wyatt Livingston.  One of the parents wrote me this nice message the other day...

Thanks so much for being such a great primary teacher for Bryce. He learns so much from you and sister bartchi! I couldn't believe all he told us about prayer tonight! Thanks so much!

My partner, Mary Barschi, also sure knows how to make me feel good...

Dear Carrie. I can honestly say that one of the main reasons I love this calling is serving with you. You are such a wonderful person, I sit back in awe and watch how patient you are, not only with the kids in our class, but with your own kids. You are truly and elect lady.

Also, Andy & Alex's 2nd grade and I had this little exchange the other day...

Just thought you should know...whenever I ask Andy and Alex who their favorite teacher is they still ALWAYs answer Miss McFarlane!! Ü

Carrie, thank you so much. This made my day! Your boys made teaching fun. They were always so enthusiastic, and their excitement spread to the rest of the class. I think it ruined my expectations for the following year. I remember being so disappointed when I couldn't get my students excited about the same things I had taught your boys. I'm so glad I got to have both of them in my class. That was such a great year.

From Natalie DeVore...the kids piano teacher...

You really made my week telling me what Abby said. She is so sweet. And your boys are so much fun. I love teasing with them. I do tease them, and tell you stories. But they really are a joy to teach. I love all three of them like they are an extension of my family. I'm so so glad they continued this year. I couldn't imagine my week without them! So thank you

This wasn't on facebook, but the other week when we took the kids rock climbing I was sitting over in the corner with Tanner who was throwing quite a fit.  A lady turned to me and said, "I've been watching your family and I just want you to know how impressed I am with the how kind your kids are to each other."  I wanted to say ~ You have got to be kidding me!!!  But I didn't I just smiled and said thank you.  She went on to say how refreshing it was to see a family who gets a long so well together and that it gave her hope for her 2 teenage daughters.

Another thing through email... I asked Tyler to tell me 5 ways he felt loved by me.  This was his list...

2)      When we talk together about our days

3)      When you tickle/scratch my back.

4)      We do fun things together

5)      You support me in my work and my calling

6)      You handle things around the house and kids

7)      You allow me to help with things around the house and kids

8)      When we hang out in the evenings

9)      Going to the temple together

10)   Etc… J

I feel like I do so many things so wrong...so its nice sometimes to hear others say that I'm doing things right. Ü

Dropping her off at Jr. High!!!
She was a nervous wreck...but when she got home she said she had a really fun day.  The craziness of school has set in and she's already had several projects and papers due.  She is overwhelmed, but still happy!
