So...Miss Abby has been missing having a pet since Paws ran away 2 years ago.  She's thought about bunnies, she's thought about guinea pigs, but really what she wanted most was another cat.  Back in September when Andy and Alex got their pet snake I said, in a weak moment, that maybe for her 13th birthday we could look into getting her another kitten.  Well there was no way she was gong to let me forget and she has been talking about her new cat for months!  As her birthday got closer I got more and more hesitant.  I didn't want to go through the crazy kitten phase again...or pay all the kitten fees!!  I tried really hard to talk Abby out of it and prepare her for the fact that it might not happen.

But then I got a facebook message from a friend with this picture attatched...

saying, "Are you at all interested in this cat?  She was abandoned by her owners and has been sitting in Petco for the last couple of weeks.  She's almost a year and a half old, has had all her shots, and is fixed. She is so sweet and cuddly and great with kids.  And they are lowering her price!!"

Well, it didn't take too much to convince us...and Abby got her birthday present a month early!!
May 9th

Welcome to the family Chloe Sweetheart Allen!!
I love all her calico colors!!

She is so mellow and fits right in.  She is no trouble at all.
Except she has taken my spot on the couch.

And yes, she is great with kids!!

Tyler's mom didn't have as great of a Mother's Day as I did.  She had to take Tyler's dad to the hospital. :(  He had been suffering from severe back pain for 6 months...it had started back in November shortly before they came to visit us for Thanksgiving.  The pain had increased and even limited his ability to walk in a very short amount of time.  On May 10th, Mother's Day, a fall resulted in him in the hospital.  After several days of testing they found a mass along his spine with the diagnosis of stage 4 lymphoma cancer.  The outlook was a few weeks to a few months of life left.  Tyler's dad chose to try some chemo treatments and was put into a rehab facility for the time being.

Of course Tyler wanted to go see his dad...and I got to go too!!  Just the 2 of us.
That was kind of fun Ü

The closest I've been to Mexico

During our drive there Texas was having some CrAzY weather.  Wind, rain, and flooding in the San Antonio/Austin area.  We weren't affected except for driving through it...but do think we saw the forming of a tornado on the way...

Here he is!!

Tyler's sister Angie was there visiting at the same time.  Here she and Tyler are checking out dad's freaky scar from getting a port drilled into his skull that delivers chemo right into his brain!

Grandsons Tori and Matthew delivered the sacrament to dad in the rehab facility.

Finally someone as tall as Tyler!!

The last day of school is always bitter sweet.
Excited for summer...but it means time is flying and everyone is growing up!!

Ben got a medal for having straight As all year long!!

His teacher, Mrs. Nuesca also gave him a special Mathematician award. Ü
We Loved Mrs. Nuesca...she was perfect for Ben.
I guess he made her a bet that on the first day of 3rd grade he would be taller than her...we'll see! Ü

So proud of him!!

A mom in Ben's class put this cute collage together...LOVE IT!!
Ben is the 1st on the left in the 2nd row

Here are Andy and Alex with their teacher, Mrs. Hill.  These boys are not the biggest fans of school...we'll just say they are glad 5th grade is over. Ü

May ended with us making tie dye shirts to wear on our vacation coming up

You'll have to wait for the big reveal next month Ü

HAPPY SUMMER!!
