August 2015

My goal for the summer was to get caught up (really meaning start!!) the kids school memory books.  I had piles and piles of papers for each of them.  PILES!!  Very unorganized ones!!

I finally hauled it all down to the living room a WEEK before school started back up.
We got Ben and Andy's books done.  I guess that's not too bad...at least its a start!

Abbys and Alex's piles are sill downstairs in different corners of the living room.  Luckily fall break will be here before we know it!! Ü

Tyler and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary on August 9th!!
The Wornica's, who sit with us every Sunday and say our kids are like grandkids, like to have the older 4 kids over to play once a month or so.  Brother Wornica had been asking for months if the kids could do a movie night/sleep over with them sometime.  We finally agreed and planned it to coordinate with the weekend of our anniversary.  My mom took Tanner for the night and Tyler and I were free!!!  We walked around San Tan Mall and ate all fancy like at Brio.  Wow!!

Frost was right next door and Tyler had never had gelato before so we had to have that too.

The next day it was temple time.  We love that place!

Thank you for being so amazing Tyler!  I Luv U!!  ALOT!!!

Every summer we have a Harry Potter marathon where we have a bunch of late nights right in a row and watch all 8 movies.  This year the kids decided to watch the movies in reverse order and watch #1 last.  Alex volunteered to read Ben the first Harry Potter book over the last few weeks of summer...

...so he could watch it with us. He was very excited!!

And then it was back to school!!
~ August 10th~

Alex

They built a brand new American Leadership Academy elementary and Jr. High/High School campus super close to us!  We planned, however, for this year to leave all the kids where they have been...the elementary kids at the SanTan ALA campus...still super close in the opposite direction...and Abby at the QC Jr. High/HS about 15 minutes away...because of familiarity and friends.  (We planned next year...when Abby started 9th grade and the twins 7th to pull those 3 over to the new campus.)  BUT because of Tanner's preschool I needed to depend on a carpool to get Abby where she needed to be.  AND 2 weeks before school started that fell apart!!!  SO after lots of talking all the options through we decided to move Abby to the new school even through her closest, and kind of only, friend was staying at the old campus.  It was a hard choice but so far its going well.  Abby knows plenty of people there (which was the main reason she decided to switch...this year everyone would be new!) and is enjoying her classes.  The campus looks kind of dull as they are still working on some the exterior work and landscaping but the inside was ready to go so they started.

The mascot for the new school, and the surrounding 3 elementary schools,  is Warriors!!  So now I'm a Warrior Mom!!  I even have a t-shirt. Ü

Tyler took the younger group to school while I got Abby where she needed to be (the 1st day of school traffic for her was CRAZY!!  She was 30 minutes late to school the 1st day because of it...but at least so was everyone else. Ü)  He got some fun pictures of the kids in their lines.  He even got to see Alex lead the school in the American Leadership Pledge before they went into their classes!!

These 2 are the Big Men on campus now.  6th grade...can't believe it!!

Tyler said most teachers were standing at the front of their lines with a little sign that said their name and that they weren't really interacting with any of the students or parents around them.  Ben's teacher however, Ms Kinnard, had made a big ol' sign that was all cute and decorated and was walking up and down her line chatting with everyone. Ü  So lucky to have such great teachers!!

Ben went to school on the 1st day with a very wiggly tooth...

...and came home without one!!
(The 3 boys stay after school for a sports program...so that is why he is SO SWEATY!!)

This girl survived her 1st day of 8th grade at her new school.
So proud of her for adjusting so well to that change. Ü

This boy is still LOVING preschool.  Here are some of his projects from this month.  Tyler and I have been helping Tanner's teacher prep some of the projects at home.  Some of them are quite involved...but they sure turn out cute!!

Tanner doesn't have preschool on Wednesdays so that is our play day where we get together with friends...usually at the splash pad.  He loves to see his best bud Gabe!!

My mom's friend Donetta was in town for a wedding so we all had to go see her.  I grew up with Donetta always around and she still sends our family a Christmas gift each year.  We hadn't seen her since Ben was a baby so it was nice to visit.

It was fun to celebrate this girls birthday with breakfast at Kneaders.  Cheri lives just down the street from me and she usually meets up with all of us for our girls nights.  She keeps us all laughing and is such a great friend!!

And speaking of birthdays...

This boy had one!!  This is from his birthday dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house a few days before his actual birthday.  That stuffed dog's name is Lucky.  He is kind of like Ben's classroom pet...the kids in his class take turns bringing him home for a few days and then they get to write and draw pictures of what they did with him.  Lucky Lucky got to come to a birthday party this time. Ü

We even wrote a fun poem about Lucky's visit...

                                                                Lucky picked a lucky day
To come and visit and to play
We came  to Grandma’s house to eat
It was a special birthday treat
Spaghetti was his favorite food
It put him in a real good mood
Pie and ice cream at the end
He shared it with a special friend
We’re glad that Lucky came to play
To celebrate on Ben’s birthday
