Abby's Pose

I asked Abby to go pose for me so I could take a picture of her in her cute new school dress. Here is how she posed!
Too funny!  She is such a kick!  The dress is darling, by the way.  How are the kids enjoying school?  I bet the boys are loving it!
Have a great day!   Aldine Allen

Why the Long Blogging Break

Remember how our computer was broken a few month back? Well for the last 3 weeks our monitor has been broken so I was without a computer again. Thank you mom for getting us a new monitor as an early anniversary present. Nothing else better brake on the computer...ever!
Now I think I'm pretty much all caught up on what has been going on this summer and with the kids in school now I might even be able to blog everyday! Don't count on it though. Ü

Ben's 1st Popsicle

I'm usually amazingly good about not giving my kids any sugar or sweets until their 1st birthday and then only ever so sparingly that 2nd year. But after walking kids home from school in 111 degree heat I decided the kid deserved a break.

He only had a couple of licks...maybe it doesn't even really count. He loved it though! It was a special treat for his 11 month day.

July 20th ~ The First Day of School

Three of my kids are in school. Wow!
Andy and Alex are in kindergarten. They were so ready to go. They walked right in and didn't even look back. Their teacher is Mrs. Bocchino who Abby had as her kindergarten teacher. I honestly wasn't too happy about that at first because I wasn't vey impressed with her classroom management when Abby was in her room. I've decided though that it is going to be fine. This will be her 3rd year teaching now and she seems a lot more confident in what she is doing. Plus the boys are totally different than Abby is and I think they will handle themselves better. Mrs. Bocchino says Andy and Alex are doing ok in class but that they are a little fidgety. They haven't gotten their name on the board once though so I am proud of them. School is from 8am until 3:05pm and the boys are starting to complain just a little bit about the day being so long. Overall they are having a great time. Their favorite thing is recess. Ü
Abby's 2nd grade teacher is Mrs. Nieto. I don't know anything about her other than hearing a parent in our ward who's son had her last year say she is amazing. She seems really nice from meeting her at meet the teacher night and Abby has been really happy with her so far. Abby is really hard to get up in the morning for school but she has come home happy everyday. She has stayed on green every day and even earned 3 trips to the treasure box today. Way to go Abs!
I took the kids to a back to school lunch after new student orientaion on Friday the 17th. They had earned free ice cream cones from the summer reading program at the library at Apple Dumpling Cafe. It was a cute little place and all 3 of them got cotton candy ice cream.
The night of the first day of school Abby was dancing around in her room and slammed her hand onto the footboard of her bed. It really hurt her and we thought it might be broken. We took her into My Dr. Now and she had 3 x-rays done. It didn't show any broken bones; only bruising and a sprained thumb. She got to wear a splint on her thumb and a bandage around her hand for the next 2 days. It is off now and her hand is just fine.
Now it's just Ben and me at home. What am I going to do with myself all day long? Hmmm, I think I can think of a few things. Ü

A Good Cause

Does anyone want to donate to the "Tyler Needs New Shoes" fund?

Swim Lessons

Posted by Picasa
Abby, Andy, and Alex took swimming lessons this summer from Jaime Chlarson in our ward. They gained so much confidence, learned how to kick, freestlye, and dive, and had tons of fun. Now they can swim in the deep end WITHOUT floaties. Crazy! I think that I can say that if they fell in a pool they'd be able to get to the side and get out without drowning ~ that was the goal! Thanks Jaime!!

Ben Got Buzzed (July 5, 2009)

Buzzed Boys

This was a very sad day for me. I loved Ben's hair. None of my other kids have had this much hair so early and I absolutely love the color of his hair. But it was definately time for a haircut. Tyler tried to do a longer on top/shorter on the sides cut but Ben was screaming and twisting so much that it just didn't work. Tyler loves shaved heads. He thinks they look "sharp". I like the boys hair buzzed but, sorry hon, if and when Ben's hair grows back we'll be taking him somewhere to get it cut from now on.

Maybe you could compromise and have it short in the summer and long in the winter.

4th of July

We spent our 4th of July at my Aunt Marsha and Uncle Paul's house. Thanks for inviting us. We had so much fun!!

I assume that the picture of Ben and his girl cousin is the one who is 4 days younger than him.  Wow!  What a huge difference!  He is huge!  It looks like everyone had a great time in the pool.

Have a great day!   Aldine Allen
Actually that girl cousin is a month older than him. Ü
Oh, my gosh!  Amazing!
