The Aristocats

Abby and Alex participated in the play "The Aristocats" through the Queen Creek Performing Arts Center a few weeks ago.  I LOVE that some of my kids like to be in plays.  It gets pretty hectic those last few weeks before the play, but then the performance comes and it makes it all worth it.

Alex was in the show choir which performed 3 numbers before the play and then was in the finale.  Abby was in the Ruff Rangers group of the play.  I had to make both of them up to look like dogs.  I do not know much about make up at all and have never used liquid eye liner in my life!  Alex was so worried while I did his make up and went to rehearsal telling me he was going to be the worst looking kid there.  When he got home he said, "Actually mom, you did pretty good.  I'd say I looked like 5th best!"
YES!!!

kind of proud of myself

Their opening night was the same night I was at Time Out For Women...but Grandma Pam, Grandpa Dave, Andy, and Ben went to see them.

They did a show Friday night, Saturday afternoon, and Monday night.  Tyler and I went to the Monday night show.

More of the make up saga...So Tyler had to do their make up Friday and Saturday while I was gone to TOFW.  When I sat down Monday to do Alex's make up he said, "Mom, Dad did a better job then you...can he please do our make up again tonight."  Really!?!?!

Here are some pictures from the show...Thank You Facebook!!

The show choir sang The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Rockin' Robin, and Hound Dog.  Here they boys are praciticng their Elvis moves.  Alex had a chance to have the mic during Hound Dog and sing a solo...but he chickened out. :(  I took this picture during a rehearsal.  There weren't any pictures posted of the show choir from the actual performance.

These pictures are in no particular order...

Cole and Katelyn Fish came to see the play!!

Our friend Sophia Wares was in show choir with Alex...I used to babysit her when she was teeny Ü

The kids had fun taking pictures with friends they had made as well as with their directors and choreographers.

In the words of Abby, "I just love being in the theater.  Whenever its time to go home I just don't want to leave.  I could see myself doing this the rest of my life."
They are already excited about the next play in the spring and decided their audition songs.
We just maybe sort of might be a theater family. Ü

I'm super excited about the souvenir I got.  I bought the book 21 Days Closer to Christ by Emily Freeman and had her sign it. Ü  I've started reading it and it is amazing!!

Word to the wise...and funniest memory of the weekend...don't go to McDonalds in downtown Phoenix at 10:30pm...especially with a Block 4 nursing student in her psychology rotation.  Lots of weirdos out there...and Kathy pointed out every one!! Ü

Halloween Hub-bub

Halloween started a week early on October 25th with our school's fall festival.  They had a trunk or treat as well as bounce houses, bake sales, vendors, a chili cook off, and a costume contest.

Andy the ghoul, Ben the pirate, and Alex the clown

Tyler was Where's Waldo...20 years later Ü

Ben and Alex in the costume contest...the girl with the umbrella won...her costume was raining cats and dogs Ü

Then it was off to our ward trunk or treat.  Tyler made chili for the cook off...and of course he WON!!!  First he won the salsa cook off...now the chili cook off...I swear its not rigged...he's just AMAZING!!

I found this cute idea on the Dating Divas website

The kid were SO excited to go trick or treating around our neighborhood this year.  We went with some of the Kent girls.

Sad Jack-o-lantern

Happy Jack-o-lantern
He didn't want to have anything to do with the dragon costume again.  I think because he was so HOT in it!  We practically peeled him out of it after the ward trunk or treat and he was dripping wet underneath.  Gotta love southern Arizona!!

He decided he was done about half way through...

Candy sorting at the Kents!!

He was so excited about this witch finger!!

Back home

That is one full bag of candy Andy!!

Happy Halloween!!
