We Interupt Our Utah Posts...

Because today Ben started Preschool!!The one time I tell him not to look at me he tries to look at me Back at the beginning of June I took him in to the school district to have a speech evaluation. We finally heard the results yesterday. He scored low in articulation and intelligibility. For a 2 1/2 to 2 year 11 month old you should be able to understand 50% of what they say and for 3 year olds (which he will be next month) you should be able to understand 75%. Ben's intelligibility tested at 25%. Because of this he gets to attend preschool at Cirlce Cross Ranch on Friday afternoons from 11:45-2:45. He will be pulled out for speech for a half hour during that time. In all other areas of the evaluation (personal, social, motor, cognitive) he scored on the high end of average or above average.

Here he is with his teacher Mrs. Albert walking into class. He didn't cry or anything!!

Coming out of class at the end of the day
I kept telling him it would be like nursery ~ I would drop him off and then come pick him up when school was over. He told me, "Mommy, I waited a long time for you to come and get me!" 3 hours is a lot longer than nursery!!
An ice cream treat for being a good boy and to celebrate the 1st day of school! What Ben brought homeHe ate all his snack of cantalope and milk, was in a happy and playful mood, and participated in free play, drawing/writing, puzzles, music, outdoor play, reading, and cutting with scissors/gluing. He's going to love school!!

Abby, Andy, and Alex will start school on Monday at American Leadership Academy.

Utah Trip Day 5

July 6th

We rode the light rail up from Sandy to Salt Lake for our 2nd day using the City Pass. Today's adventure...the Clarke Planetarium, lunch at the Lion House Pantry, and then the Discovery Children's Museum. Here is comes
Getting on

At the Clarke Planetarium our pass included our entrance fee and also a free 3-D movie. We saw Born to Be Wild which was all about baby elephants and orangatuns. Cute! However one of the previews before the movie freaked Ben out. It was about prehistoric sea creature so there were huge sharks and sea dinoasaurs swimming at us. He wouldn't put his glasses back on for the movie.
