Boys and Dirst

Our backyard isn't finished yet (if it ever is finished it will be a miracle!!) so when I send the kids outside I know they are going to get dirty. But add a lot of sweat to the picture and you have a whole different story... Alex

So these pictures were taken on Monday. Abby was at Girl Scouts. I take one of the leaders 2 kids home with me to keep during the meeting and then she brings Abby home for me. Anyway so I had her 2 boys, ages 3 yrs and 6 months, plus Sophia the 21 month old little girl I babysit. The 3 boys ran outside as soon as we got home from dropping Abby off (always nice for me). I checked on them later and they were throwing dirt up in the air and letting it fall down on top of them. Now normally I discourage this kind of behavior but on this day I thought, "you know what - I'm 37 weeks preganant, trying to feed Ryan (the 6 month old) a bottle and trying to keep Sophia happy. They can throw as much dirt as they want." Once Sophia left (which wasn't that much later) and the baby was down for a nap I went out and got the boys in. I took the boys out to the front yard (I wasn't going to have them tromp upstairs to the bathtub! Plus the baby was sleeping in the room next door), stripped them down naked, soaped them up and hosed them down. So I'm now probably known in the neighborhood as the lady who bathes her naked kids in the front yard but again - I'm 37 weeks pregnant and I don't care. Ü Amazingly Ethan, the other 3 year old, hardly had any dirt on him.

I think kids and dirt are meant to be. I'm known as the crazy lady who lets their kids swim in the irrigation, strip them down in the drive way and hose them off before going in the house. Sometimes kids need to be kids.
