Good News

Abby had her appointment with her rheumotologist last Tuesday. She was supposed to get her IV at the same time but guess what...she is doing so good that they didn't give it to her! Her blood levels are all back to normal, her rash is gone, her movements are back to normal and everything is just looking great. If she keeps on doing so well then her doctor will start decreasing her medicine at her next appointment in July. I would say she is pretty much back to her old self - except for all the side effects of the medication - weight gain (about 30lbs), irritability, and just not feeling good . We did see a GI doctor about her constant complaints of tummy aches as her rheumotologist didn't think they were related to her disease. Her blood work, x-rays, and stool sample all came back normal so there is a chance she will need to have an endoscopy done to see why she is hurting.
Abby was very happy not to get her IVIG! Her nurse Laura was happy too because she got to go home for the day! Ü We had physical therapy today and Abby is doing so well there that our visits are going to drop down to once a month. It will be interesting to see how Abby does without the infusion and without physical therapy. Is she does start hurting again we will start the IVs back up but Dr. Shishov thinks by treating the disease so aggressively from the start we've kind of wiped it out. Abby did still have to get blood taken. She had to get poked 3 times to fill up the 5 vials they needed. Abby's elephant got her blood taken too.
I can't believe how blessed we are. There are so many things that could have gone wrong with this disease that haven't. Things could be so much worse. I am amazed at how well she is doing and at all of the tender mercies we have had. Thank you everyone for all your thoughts and prayers. They have definately helped! Please keep them coming as we don't know what the future holds. But for right now things are looking good.
