Utah Trip Day 4

July 5th

We were able to purchase a Groupon for a Salt Lake City Pass that got us into a ton of fun places. We were so lucky to get this!! It kept us VERY busy as we had 3 days to use the pass from the time we activated it.

Our first stop was to the dinosaur museum down at Thanksgiving Point.

Ben wasn't so sure about it and we practically had to drag him in to the place. He kept saying, "I don't like dinosaurs!"

The first room we went to was a science room with all kinds of experiments.

Ben loved this ball one.

Abby making a cloud

The next room was all about fossils and paleontology. Did you know Alex wants to be a paleontologist when he grows up? A real paleontologist working on a fossil

This will be Alex someday

Next we move on to the statues. This is so dark but it is a pic of the kids by a stagasaurus.

A Utahraptor

Learning about erosion and dams Design a DinoMatching up fossils is just like putting a puzzle together A Mammoth

Digging for dinosaur bones

He didn't want to dig where the real bones were

Once Alex realized it was a Stegasaurus he knew right where the tail spikes should be

Posing on the rocks

We had lunch at Fazzoli's. Yum!!

Our 2nd adventure of the day was over to the Olympic Park. In 2002 the winter Olympics was held in Salt Lake. We were marriend and attending BYU at the time so it was a big thing. The Olympic torch even ran right by our house!!

Kids in a bobsled

Some skiers practicing their jumps. In the summer they practice by landing in the water.

The actual ski jumps used in the Olympics

Ready to skeleton

Fianlly we headed to Snowbird. Our pass included a trip on the tram up to the peak of the mountain. Now this tram hangs suspended from a wire and goes all the way up. I've kind of developed a fear of heights in my old age and was so anxious about the 4 kids on this tram going up to the top. I was certain we would lose one of them over the edge. I was perfectly happy staying on the ground with Benjamin while Tyler took the big kids on up.

Getting on the tram

Going up

Abby doesn't like heights either. I was surprised she wanted to go in the first place. This is how she traveled up the mountain.

They made it to the top!

I'm such a good mom ~ sending my kids off to play in the snow it shorts and flip flops.

Quite the view

I guess I deprived Ben his first chance to seeing and playing in snow. Oh well!!

Andy walked out to the middle here and got his flip flops stuck in the slush. He walked across the rest of the way barefoot and Tyler went back in for his shoes.

When Alex told me he made a snowball I asked him if his hands got cold. He said, "No. Just numb."

Ready to come back down

While Ben and I were waiting for everyone we saw this moose. He was drinking for the pond. We stopped and watched it for awhile and at one point he turned and was totally facing us. At that point the kids came running down the path and I called them over to see it. I yelled to Tyler to quick come and take a picture. When Tyler saw the moose he froze and mouthed "Back away!!" I wasn't up on my moose etiquette - didn't realize they kill people. He did snap a few pictures. That is the the kids and I over on the far left. I thought it was all pretty cool.

Ben had fun climbing on the rocks

We had dinner at Wingers. LOVED hitting all of our old fav restaurants.

It doesn't get dark in the summer in Utah until like 9:30. Even though we got home past the kids 8pm bedtime it was totally still light and they played outside for a bit. The boys found some snails.

They raced them.
