A First!!

On Monday, September 8th we got some news that I have never gotten in all my years of going to school and my kids haven't gotten in all their short years of going to school...

WEATHER ALERT:
Due to flooding and road closures in and around the campus, all ALA schools are CLOSED today.
We love you and please be safe!!
It had been raining HARD for most of the night.  Infact me and all 5 kids were up from 1am-3am due to the loud rain, thunder and lightning, and the power being out (Tanner's screaming from his night light being out is what woke me up!!).  Tyler of course slept through the whole thing.  I let the kids sleep in a bit and yanked them out of bed 20 minutes before we were supposed to leave for school only to see the text as soon as we got downstairs.

The kids were ecstatic!!!  I was completely bummed that I saw the text AFTER I woke the kids up!! Ü

This is how bad some areas were affected from the storm.  Infact they called it a 100 year storm...cause it sure doesn't rain like this very often!!

Tyler made it about 5 minutes down the road for work and then came back home.  So much traffic backed up.  So many roads closed.  We still live in kind of a rural area and cars and buses literally could not get to our school campuses due to flooded roads.

It was a fun spontaneous day.  The kids had not changed into their school clothes yet so they stayed in their pjs all day...they even went to piano lessons in pajamas!

We got out the play-doh

I strongly encouraged them to work on homework

By afternoon the sun was out and everything right around us was pretty dry

Mostly we just relaxed and were happy to have a random free day
