Polar Express

We piled in the car on Friday, November 25th to drive up to Williams, AZ for our Polar Express ride.  It wasn't snowing but was definately cold!

Kids all bundled up in their PJS

Ben and Alex were excited to find this little Christmas tree

Grandma Hall came too!  I love that she does so many fun things with our family. Ü

Meeting Mrs. Clause!

Writing letters to Santa
Ben wants a ball and bat and a new water bottle from Santa.  We keep saying, "But you already have a ball and bat and a water bottle,"  He just says, "Well, I want another one."
Alex had already put his letter in Santa's mailbox before I could take a picture of him.  He asked Santa for a puzzle, a warm blanket, and a puppy dog - a real one.  I keep telling him too bad about the puppy; we're getting a baby this year. Ü  He also wants a pear, pez, and a hot wheel car in his stocking.
Abby's letter says, "Dear Santa, For Christmas I want a toy bunny - stuffed (she has since decided she'd like a real bunny), an IPod, an art kit, whoppers, and you can give me other things too."
Andy's letter says, "I can't wait til Christmas!  I want an IPod, a toy robot, a pogo stick, toy airplane (electric), and a toy car."

Listening to the Polar Express Story

To get to the North Pole we went through a Time Travel tunnel.  It was all lit up and sparkly and when we went through it the kids had to raise their hands and say "Weee!"  Once we were in the North Pole we still had to ride a ways to Santa's Village.  It was very exciting to watch for it.  Although the kids were suprised to see cars and a gas station in the North Pole. Ü

Santa's Village was all lit up and beautiful.  When we passed by Santa was in his sleigh waving at us.  Then the train stopped so Santa himself could get on.  We were sitting in the back of our car ~ plus our car was halfway back on the train ~ so I was preparing the kids that it would take awhile for Santa to get to us.  But, to my surprise, right then the back door to our car opened and their he was!!
Ben was the first kid in our car he talked to.  Every kid got a big jingle bell.

listening to their bells

After Santa came by we had a Christmas sing along.  Alex said this was his favorite part of the trip!

Ben had fun singing for a bit, but then he decided snuggling with Grandma was better Ü

We stayed the night there in Williams at the Howard Johnson hotel.  Alex and Abby slept in a room with Grandma Pam and Grandma Hall.  Ben and Andy slept with Tyler and I.  Ben fell off the bed once and then proceeded to take over the bed.  This is how I found them in the morning.  Poor Andy. Ü

There was ice on our cars in the morning - with little snowflakes on the windows.  The kids thought that was awesome!

Abby and Alex could see their breath!

I would call this a very successful, magical, and fun mini vacation!!  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for this great gift!!

What fun!! Somebody came up with a great idea! I love it! That is such a great story. I loved the movie. How far is Williams from where you live? I loved the pictures of your fun trip. ~ Aldine Allen
