Being the Bishop

In about a month and a half ~ on August 19th to be exact ~ it will already have been a year since Tyler was called as Bishop.  I still can't believe he's the Bishop!  Wow!  I knew he was a good guy...I just didn't know how good.  Just about the only answer I can get out of him when I ask him what being the Bishop is like is...HARD!  He has had lots of good moments though...also some sad.  He conducted his first funeral last week for a premature baby.

I think his favorite thing to do is be with the youth.  When he was set apart President Ray told him he should focus 30% of his time on the adults in the ward and the other 70% of his time on the youth.  Tyler is definitely trying to live up to that.

In March he was able to go on a 3 day/2 night campout with his priest quorum and advisors.  They went down to Picacho Peak and did several hikes.  The camp was missionary themed.

One of his priests had 5 tickets to the Priesthood Session of General Conference.  He was going to go with a group of friends but the driver had backed out.  He REALLY wanted to go and was looking desperately for someone to drive.  Tyler gladly volunteered.

So many people!!

Tyler was lucky enough to see his grandparents on this short trip.  His grandpa wasn't doing so well at the time and we were honestly really scared for him.  Thankfully grandpa is doing MUCH better!

Another highlight of serving as Bishop is attending the temple with families in the ward going through for the first time.  We've been able to attend four sealings in the last year.  Being in the temple with these families was definitely an amazing experience.

The Lee family adopted little Tori in December...

and then baby Dawn in April!

I had the privilege of holding Dawn during her sealing...so special!!

Just this last weekend I got to go up with Tyler to girls camp for Bishop's Night.  It was awesome!!  I don't really get to see Tyler in the Bishop role too often.  Impressive!!  Thank you Kent family, Fish family, and Grandma Pam for helping with kids.  I'm so glad I could go!!

When I arrived at camp Katelynn Kent ran up to me and said, "We made you a shirt and its AMAZING!!"  It says, "My Husband's Got Boom Boom Testimony!"  It went along with their Bishop chant. Ü

Can he do it alone??

Oh yes, he can!!

I am so proud of my husband!  I hear only good things about him.  Sometimes it is hard being the Bishop's Wife...like knowing in a couple of weeks he gets to leave AGAIN with the priests to go to Magic Mountain, the beach, and to visit the 4 temples in Sothern CA...REALLY?  Sigh!  Sometimes I don't feel like I'm Bishop's Wife material.  Oh well.  I am very amazed and grateful for the opportunities we are having in our life right now and we continue to let Heavenly Father know that we will serve Him however He needs us to.

I Love You Babe!  Thank you for being the man you are. Ü
