With Christmas being on a Sunday this year we had church at 9am. We had everyone get up and ready for church before coming downstairs. We opened stockings before church and everything else waited until after. Tyler and the older kids sang in the choir during sacrament meeting. They sang The First Noel and Angels We Have Heard On High. I was a proud Mommy. Ü
| Alex specifically asked Santa for a pear in his stocking |

One of our family home evenings at the beginning of December is to have the kids draw names of which sibling they are going to buy a present for and then to head down to Target for some shopping (dinner is usally included in this outing too - this year we hit Chick-Fil-A Ü). It is always super fun to see what they choose for each other. Here they are with their sibling gifts. Abby bought Andy a glow in the dark football, Ben chose a new blanket for Alex, and Andy bought Abby the DVD Barbie Princess Charm School. Ben isn't in this picture but Alex bought a little basketball for him that fits in our hoop out back.

It was a wonderfaul & relaxing day! We hit the Loop of Lights in Pecan Creek on the way home. A favorite memory from the day is of Alex and Ben going from room to room at Grandma and Gradpa's house caroling. They played this for probably a half hour going in circles around their house singing away. I'm amazed at how well Ben knows the songs. Alex had his big ol' blanket wrappped around his neck like a scarf. The first thing Ben said to Alex this morning was, "Let's pretend to go caroling again!"

Priceless! Thanks so much for sharing all of this with me. I wish I could have been there with you! It sounds and looks like it was a wonderful Christmas with all the right, memorable, important things included. Our Christmas was pretty quiet. I was up until 3:30 am fixing things for missionaries. I had learned that night that 4 others were coming over early in the morning to open presents with our missionaries. I took 6 of grandpa’s white socks, that he used to use when he worked in the temple, and filled them with oranges, apples, mangoes, peanuts, mixed nuts, and chocolate, with a couple of candy canes sticking out of the top. I wrote their names on the socks with magic marker and lined them all up on the couch. I also made fleece headbands for each of the 4 elders visiting and a hat for our elders. I made some pumpkin bread from a mix I had, and then put hot chocolate mix in 6 cups, ready for them to just add hot chocolate. It was fun to surprise them. We didn’t get up early to watch anyone open their presents this year. Our church was at 11:00 so we got up in time for that. After church we came home for about an hour and I made the blueberry cheesecake pies for dinner. At 1:30 we went to Shauna’s house to participate in the Skype call from Ammon. It was great to see him and talk to him and hear his continuing excitement as a missionary. Then we came home and I peeled a bunch of precooked potatoes, grated them and made a huge batch of “Yummy Potatoes” for our family dinner. Shauna’s family also joined us all at Cindy’s house for dinner. We had ham, turkey, yummy potatoes, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, hot homemade bread, and spinach and fresh raspberry salad. Later we ate the pies. Josh called on Skype at about 7:10 in the evening and talked until 10:30. The kids couldn’t get enough of it. They kept having him talk Chinese for them. He said they weren’t limited on how much time they could talk, unlike Ammon who only had 40 minutes, which he divided between the family and Josh & Lauren. Each mission is so different. Our missionaries were not allowed to Skype.
Anyway, all in all it was a very nice, quiet Christmas. I am getting excited to come to see all of you and to help out. Sending you our love and prayers for a quick, healthy delivery of that sweet baby boy!!! Love you !
