Back in April we went and saw 2 Young Men from our ward perform in the play Seussical the Musical through a group called Drama in Queen Creek. I thought, "Well, if they ever do something cool like 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory' I'll look into having my kids participate."
| with Sterling, Audrey, and Meagan Kent, Tanner Stanley as the Cat in the Hat, Alex Cluff as Horton the Elephant, and Brandon Cluff |
On the back of the program was a list of upcoming shows and lo and behold audtitions for Willy Wonka were in 2 weeks! Abby and Alex were interested but Camp Cruz conflicted for Abby so Alex went all by himself. Any kid who auditioned got a part and Alex got the part of Mr. Debuessey, one of the naughty Golden Ticket winner's parents. They adjusted the play and kind of made up some new parts and things to fit the kids they had...but mainly stayed with the same story line....golden tickets are placed inside chocolate bars, the winners get to go inside Willy Wonka's chocolate factory, most of the winners are naughty and greedy - they don't follow Willy Wonka's rules and they suffer the consequences which always results in the Oompa Loompa's carrying them off, one boy, Charlie, and his Grandpa Joe get all the way through the castle and win a life time supply of chocolate - as well as becoming the factory's new owners. There you have it in a nutshell. Ü
| a script read through in May |
The play was performed on June 11th
